Vittorio Cortese reviewed Door Surgeon

After researching the price for a garage door spring, the average cost is about $80 depending on size. Called Door Surgeon and couldn’t get a ballpark over the phone. Because the 32nd Avenue Calgary location was on my wife's route I asked her to pick one up. When she got home and told me that she paid $113.38 (gst included), I felt that I paid too much so I called the store asking if I was able to return it as the receipt clearly stated that there is a 20% restocking fee. I was hoping that they would take it back considering it was un-open. Unfortunately, after speaking to the Calgary location and Edmonton head office, my only option was to pay the re-stocking fee. So, I decided to mount the expensive spring. After unwrapping the spring from the plastic wrap, I checked to make sure I had the correct spring to mount. Unfortunately, although, the label clearly stated it was a Right mounting spring the spring itself had an L on it and the spring direction matched a left spring. The next day I took the spring back to the Calgary store on 32nd. I explained the issue to the two gentlemen in the front. Derrick joined the conversation asking me if my wife had purchased the product the day prior and I confirmed. Derrick made a few phones calls, went back and forth from the shelve and told me that the spring I was trying to return was never purchased at his store. Derrick asked me to leave or he was going to call the cops. DERRICK THREATTENED ME TO PUNCH me in the face if I didn't leave. I attempted to reason with him, and his response was "I AM NOT TALKING TO YOU" He made a couple more phone calls and lastly told me that he could sell me the correct right spring. I left the store and made my purchase at the Garage Door Depot where Collin was able to help me. NO, I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS STORE. There are better ways to handle returns.
