I specialize in chronic illness and trauma as they are issues, I've had to work through myself. I enjoy working with teens and adults as they readjust to life and work to face these challenges. Chronic illness, like trauma, affects everyone differently and can be both scary and isolating as you watch symptoms creep in and start to take hold. This can bring up a wide range of feelings as your abilities change, and life becomes more uncertain. You may not have the skills or support you need to handle it right now and are unsure what to do. And that's ok! We all need help sometimes and reaching out is just the first step.
As a registered clinical counsellor, I use two types of therapy (CBT & DBT) that complement each other through an integrated approach. First, we use CBT to investigate the thoughts, feelings, and actions involved. Then, we draw it out on a whiteboard and analyze it together as you are the expert on your life. Then afterwards we will find a skill that fits.
And we end each session with a tangible take away skill that you can work on each week, to make life more manageable and help you thrive. As you face challenges know that you don't have to do it alone. Whenever you're ready, I'm here to help.
