Do you love working with children and want to make a positive difference in their lives? If so, you may be interested in pursuing a career as an Early Childhood Assistant (ECA).
An ECA is a professional who works alongside Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) to provide quality care and education for children from birth to age 12. ECAs are employed in various settings, such as childcare centres, early learning centers, kindergartens, after-school programs, and agencies for exceptional children.
As an ECA, you will have the opportunity to:
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of a childcare or early learning centre
- Support ECEs in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- Provide a nurturing and caring environment where young children can thrive
- Maintain a professional approach while observing and guiding children daily
- Demonstrate effective communication skills with parents, children, and co-workers
- Encourage socialization as children play together
- Meet nutritional requirements of young children in daily meal planning
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play and rest periods
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
