Company description

The Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre Company would like to extend a warm welcome to you as you explore our many cultural offerings. Our Oakville, Ontario facility spans 12 wooded acres and hosts over 20 annual shows by regional, national, and international artists. Painting, sculpting, photography, printmaking, fiber arts, and more are just a few of the many workshops we provide.

The Watercolor Printmaking workshop at the Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre is always a crowd-pleaser. Whether you're an experienced artist looking to expand your skill set or a beginner eager to try something new, you'll be immersed in a world of playful discovery.

Sybil Salvin Rampen is credited as the center's creator. Her parents were United Empire Loyalists, and she was born on April 29th, 1929. Sitting beside a gas lamp and listening to tales of yesteryear is a memory she holds dear. Sybil was so moved by these stories that she has made it her mission in life to spread awareness about the value of local traditions through teaching.

She received an international education. Sybil earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto in Art and Archaeology before continuing her education in Paris and London. After 35 years of instructing students in painting, needlework, and other art forms, Sybil has earned the title of "Art Specialist" from the Ontario College of Education and is now sought out as a mentor by many aspiring artists. Both domestically and internationally, her work has been on display.

Everyone of any age or artistic talent is welcome to participate in our Open Art Studio events. Co-create with locals against the lovely backdrop of the gallery, which features artwork from our current exhibition.
